Mate after watching you guys yesterday stomp a team I was on in purely militia gear, my respect level for you boys went through the roof. Granted the team I was on left a lot to be desired but you boys co-ordinated well with that militia stomping! Oh yea I too just got a couple of Quafe BPOs, not the scrambler though. Its cool, still have the trusty old Templar gear. This is why the whole tiericide argument is, imho, bogus. In Dust, knowledge of the many interconnected systems is what makes the real difference. Tiericide is fixing a symptom, not the problem, and while it might change the NPE it will not substantially improve it.
I disagree with you on part of this. Yes, teamwork = OP and matchmaking is leaving blueberries at the mercy of Scotty's bad days (Lord knows I've been there when he's been drinking).
But Tiericide is not simply bogus. A protofit member of the enemy team may only have a ~6-10% advantage in the weapon, but the modules and equipment range anywhere from an 80-250% advantage. If we assume the standard layout is used to improve defense and offense first, then the Advanced and Prototype allow for utility on top. I'm a Minmatar in Gallente tech, so Ferroscale is my favorite word and the poor version of me in 2 basic ferroscale plates and no damage mod is a far cry from when i drop the dosh on 2 Proto F. plates, an armour rep, and a damage mod. (Commando woes besides)
Does 80 Armour, 7 HP/s, and 5% Damage make the difference in a 1v1? It can, it has, and it does. But don't get me wrong, I still scrub out against militia fits all the time, but that's player error. When my gun game is on point I don't worry about one on ones. (Let's not even get into ewar, biotics, or shields)
The problem that CCP needs to handle, that I belive Tiericide addresses in part is that when a new player jumps in and gets into the thick of it the others on the field have an edge with their more expensive suits and skill points, but not a commanding lead. When I start a game I want to feel outplayed when I lose, not crushed without a chance to fight back. |
